No Disney Allowed: Decorating you kids room!
Kristina for Baby Center has the right idea! She take the words right out our mouths here at Olive Kids... Read what she had to say about Olive Kids bedding...
"Honestly, I have nothing against Disney. Or Noggin. Or PBS Kids. My 3-year-old daughter and baby boy have clothes and toys featuring TV and movie characters. And goodness knows, there have been times when we’ve watched way too much kiddie television.
But when it comes to the decor of my kids’ rooms, I just don’t want commercial characters taking center stage. For one thing, it’s not practical: One day your kid loves Cinderella; the next day, it’s Dora. It would be too expensive, too wasteful and too annoying to change a room based on a child’s whims. Besides, I want my kids’ rooms to be magical places where imaginations run wild.
So when my daughter got a big-girl bed, we went shopping for playful bedding that did more than promote a brand for a deep-pocketed corporation.
The search continued for a few months, with my daughter using old twin sheets and a tattered comforter.
Then the folks at Olive Kids–a mom and dad-owned company headquartered in a New England barn–sent a pink, tea-party bedding set for review on mom blogs such as this one.
For my frilly, tea party-loving daughter, the bedding was as exciting as a sparkly, ruffled dress or a pink-frosted cupcake with sprinkles. “Oooh,” she said. “It’s just like Fancy Nancy.”
For me, I liked Olive Kids bedding because it is practical: The comforter is girly but not too girly. Polka dots adorn one side; stripes, the other. It would be at home on the bed of a preschooler, an elementary school student or even a tween.
And so far, the set has washed well. For Christmas, I bought my daughter a comforter from a discount department store, and after four washes, parts of the seam had unraveled and the color had faded. It now has a place in the back of my car for spur-of-the-moment picnics.
For the most part, Olive Kids prices seem comparable to bedding sold at The Land of Nod but less expensive–and certainly as cute–as sheets and quilts from Pottery Barn Kids. Even celebrities like the company’s products. Truthfully, however, I’d prefer to purchase a kid’s bedding set for (significantly) under $100…but then again, that’s exactly what I did back in December and, well, I got what I paid for.
But the best part about the tea party bedding is when I’m putting my daughter to bed and she is pouring me a cup of tea from the teapot on her sham, or telling me what ingredients we need to make cupcakes like the ones on her sheets. Her imagination is off and running.

Olive Kids Fan
We love when parents get excited about decorating their kids room with Olive Kids. Here is an example
Dear Olive Kids-
I absolutely adore my little boys new bedding. As soon as I saw it I decided that I would paint a treasure map on his wall. I never expected it to turn out this good. The map took me a week to paint but I know that my son will love it for several years. It wouldn't be near as cute without the pirate bedding that we got from Olive Kids. I wanted to give my son a room that he could enjoy - I think I enjoy going into his room as much as he does. I even painted him as part of the map - he is the blonde haired pirate :).

"We were like little school girls on Christmas morning when we got the package this morning. We ran over to shipping and opened the box and couldn’t wait to get inside to see it! Anyway, I will send you a copy of all the pictures when we use it on set." Oh what fun. Stay tuned for pictures from the set and the video.

Extreme Home Makeover
We are very excited at Olive Kids! We got a message from our friends at Extreme Home makeover that they may need our help again to decorate a couple of kids rooms. The great people at Extreme Home makeover are in the process of building 12 homes for 12 family that lost their home during the Katrina flooding in New Orleans. We of course said we would be happy to help! We don't know what we will be donating this time but we will be sure to let you know as soon as we know. Unless they tell us we have to keep it a secret and then I'll just give you some hints.

Star Shopping: Olive Kids
That's right! Some very famous people are big fans of Olive Kids product and FAMEbaby part of the Parentcenter blog decided to write about it. You will see our very own Steve Peterson art director with Tori Spelling. Read what Lisa Estall from FAMEbaby had to say about Olive Kids:
My Star Shopping pick this week is Olive Kids, a company that sells bedding and room products for kids. Olive Kids was started ten years ago by a couple looking to decorate their daughters’ bedrooms. Since most of the things they found were of Disney or TV-based characters, they started their own business.
Their colorful designs are themed on outer space, transportation, tea parties and more.
I have the Under Construction bedding set for my son and he loves it!
Olive Kids also sell wall borders ($17.99), plush pillows ($24.99), and shower curtains ($39.99).
Want a personalized item? They can do that too!
I recommend this company if you’re looking for nice designs for your kids’ rooms. Their bedding is of great quality and is affordable. Personally, “Olive” it!

Confessions of a metro MAMA
We loved her confession she is the perfect Olive Kids customer read what she had to say
OLIVE KIDS is a company after my own heart. Born of a desire to help people find ways to decorate their kids' room and playrooms and spaces without having licensed charaters overloading your space -- now there is a mission I can get on board with. I don't want to offend any of my faithful readers, but I, personally, have taken a few rare stances in motherhood.
* I don't shop at WalMart.
* I don't prohibit any one food from my kids' diets, for fear of creating an insane desire. Everything in moderation.
* I don't allow them to wear shirts with cutesy but obnoxious sayings on them (someone gave Diva a shirt that said "Buy Me Something" and I had to accidentally cut it into a million pieces one night while she was sleeping.)
* I don't let my kids wear shoes that light up when they walk.
* I don't buy clothing or stuff with Dora, Barbie, or any Disney character on it. Period.
So Olive Kids is a breath of fresh air. Please check them out if you get a second -- they have all kinds of personalized things with your kids' names that are adorable, durable and affordable.
I would like to personally thank Olive Kids for sending my kids some placemats with their names on them! This made breakfast oh-so-much fun this morning and I look forward to more Olive Kids mealtimes :-)

Parent Center Loves Olive Kids Personalized Products
With our product that is... Parent Center an online blog that writes lots of different stories on just about every subject that a parent would want to know about. In their recent article they wrote a story about Tot Trends: Personalization! Here at Olive Kids we know kids love to see their name on our fun placemats, name tags, floor pillows, framed prints, clocks and our latest edition book marks. We are always looking for fun new kids products that we can make and you can personalize just for your kids. Take a look back as we will be launching some new products early this fall.
Here is the article from Parent Center
When I was a pre-teen, every mall had at least one booth that would airbrush your name on any number of gifts. The quality was not great and the style left a lot to be desired, but the fact that this knick knack bore my name somehow made it feel special.
Now my generation is having babies and, perhaps nostalgic for our mall rat days, we are seeking out personalized products for our own kids…this time with a little more flair.
Personalized products for babies and children are popping up all over the place, providing unique gift options for special occasions. Adding a child’s name to a baby shower gift honors the parents’ choice of name and toddlers enjoy knowing that present is just for them. If you are lucky, some creative relative or friend of the family will design the perfect personalized gift. For those who do not have the craft skills, the Internet marketplace has a wide variety of fun and fantastic options. After the jump, you’ll find some of my favorite personalized gifts for kids…
Olive Kids has become a popular destination for sweetly traditional, personalized children’s decor in a colorful, graphic, cartoon style, including personalized kids clocks ($25) and a variety of gifts.
