Ever wonder how Olive Kids got started?

Ten years ago, Olive Kids was founded by since Anita Oliveira-Brandwein and Russell Brandwein to offer parents and thier children a affordable alternative to character based bedding and accessories. With an emphasis on color and fun. created Olive Kids and they’ve got quite a story to tell!

Anita and Russell met 30 years ago when both were art students at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. They married after college and pursued design and painting careers until they combined talents to form Oliveira Brandwein Design. OBD became the most successful design studio in the woven throws market!

In 1994, while expecting with their first child, the couple moved from New York to a former farm turned bed and breakfast in rural New Hampshire. They set up shop in their magnificent New England barn on the property.

A few years later, when Anita and Russell began to decorate their then three-year-old daughter’s bedroom, they found that all children’s home décor was centered around TV and movie characters. As parents, they looked for an alternative; as designers, they decided they could do it better themselves! Fueled by the design duo’s imagination, energy and awareness of an untapped market, Olive Kids was born in 1997.

What began as a licensing venture soon blossomed into a very popular brand. Olive Kids signature style of clean bold colors and classic themes was an instant hit. The OliveKids.com website has become not just a selling tool for their wonderful designs, but a gathering place for moms with over 2 million visitors in 2007. Today, Olive Kids bedding, wall art, pillows, rugs and personalized gifts sell throughout the world from their country hide away in New Hampshire.

The Olive Kids mission of bringing affordable, creative, colorful classic kid-themed designs for the home is as fresh today as their concept was 10 years ago.
